Author of Little Schoolbooks, June Dash

Author - June Dash

June first learned how to read at a preschool in Southern California. She attributes her later academic success to having a solid foundation in reading. After graduating from the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, June earned her bachelor’s degree from UCLA, where she was one of fourteen students elected to Phi Beta Kappa as a junior. She then became a Certified Public Accountant and later received her law degree from Stanford Law School. June practiced law for many years, but she never lost her passion for education. When she began teaching her young daughter how to read, she realized she needed a more concise and organized method for teaching phonics. This inspired her to create the Little Schoolbooks reading series.

Illustrator - K.L. Rish

Raised up in a small New England town, K.L. Rish developed an interest in art from a very young age. He was introduced to it by his mother, who owned an art and framing boutique. He especially enjoyed drawing silly characters. At the University of South Carolina, he studied and earned a degree in media arts, and later moved to Los Angeles where he worked for twenty years in the entertainment industry. His accomplishments include an Emmy nomination and an official selection in the San Diego Comic-Con International Film Festival. His love of art and drawing was renewed when he and his wife, June, decided to create the Little Schoolbooks reading series.
